My Grandma and Grandpa Summers owned a little lake cottage on Lake Erie. (this is my sister and I in front of the cottage, circa 1965) It is the place where some of the best memories of my childhood took place. I watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon on the little black and white TV (complete with rabbit ears) here. Summers were spent here boating or swimming or just hanging one of the many screen porches. It was here that I discovered my love for drawing and anything artistic.
As a child, I remember making a simple dollhouse out of a folded sheet of notebook paper for my paper dolls. I drew a dresser on one side and a closet on the other, and then cut only the 3 sides so that the doors and drawers could “open” but still stay attached.
As I grew up, there was the inevitable Barbie Dream house, first the pink plastic one. And then, later in life, the real thing! In each of my homes, I have strived to obtain personal, yet beautiful spaces. Liveable but unusual. Filled with things my family and I love.
I hope you enjoy my blog!
